Just how much electronic trash do people have in their closets, attics, and basements? In a one day recycling event in recognition of the 11th annual America Recycles Day this November, SAMR (Supreme Asset Management and Recovery), an e-waste recycling and remarketing company, Lakewood, N.J., collected 192,580 lbs of electronic waste.
The general population brought in for recycling
- 77,032 lbs. worth of televisions
- 48,145 lbs. of CPUs
- 37,655 lbs. of monitors
- 1,925 lbs. of printers
- and 27,823 lbs. of miscellaneous electronics that included air conditioners, video cameras, speakers, stereos, and cameras, among others.
Although the local collection of e-waste took place in FirstEnergy Park parking lot (Home of the BlueClaws), 2 Stadium Way, Lakewood, electronic e-waste was collected at 50 other locations throughout the tri-state.

SAMR worked jointly with Panasonic Corporation of North America, Secaucus; JVC, Wayne; and Sharp Electronics Corporation, Mahwah, to underwrite the collection and recycling costs. In celebration of Earth Day this April, SAMR will be hosting another e-waste recycling day for the public.
